What Urgent Request is God Making?

In the creation account found in Genesis, God said, “Let there be light.”

In 2Corinthians 4:6, Paul quotes it as, “Let light shine out of darkness.” Verse 6 continues, “has shone in our hearts”, WHY?

By nature, our hearts are dark, they are “of stone”.

When God shines light into our heart what happens?

It “gives the light of knowledge.”

Knowledge of what?

“The glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” – THE GOSPEL!

God must shine the light, God must lift the veil – our job is only to speak Truth in love, we plant and water, the Lord is the Lord of the harvest. This means it is by Him and through Him that men are saved.

Verse 7 says, “the surpassing power belongs to God and not us.”

This does not mean we are idle in sharing the Truth. 2Corinthians 5:20 points out that we are ambassadors for Christ, we are “official representatives” for Christ. Verse 20 continues, “God makes His appeal through us”. Appeal is defined as an “urgent request”, what is that “urgent request” that God uses us for, what is His appeal made to the lost through those He has saved?

God is sovereign and could use any means He wants to appeal to the lost, but He chooses to let us be co-workers in the salvation of men.
