Grace and Mercy:
Psalm 66:5 Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
Matthew 7:11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask him!
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
"The Word" is Jesus, Jesus who was not flesh, became flesh, left His Heavenly home, to live on Earth - He is FULL of Grace and Truth. The account of the woman caught in adultery illustrates this well. The religious leaders brought her out to be stoned and, in an effort to trap Jesus, they asked what they should do since their Law requires a one to be stoned. Jesus showing the woman Grace told the men, "he who is without sin, let him be the one to cast the first stone." When they all dropped their stones and left, Jesus told the woman, "neither do I condemn you." But He didn't leave it there. He didn't just show her Grace, He also also shared Truth, He said, "Go and sin no more."
On another account, Jesus healed a man, showing him Grace, and upon seeing him later He said, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you."
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Psalm 28:6 Blessed be the LORD! For he has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
Mark 5:19b "Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you."
Mark 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Luke 1:50 And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.
Romans 9:16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.
Ephesians 2:1-9 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
How do we obtain this Grace and Mercy?
Acts 2:37-38 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
We must repent, what does that mean?
