Why We Must Study God's Word

Yesterday’s study time returned one of those, “WHOA!” moments, where you read something in God’s Word that you’ve read several times before and God blesses you with more illumination of the Truth. In 1John 3 verse 2 it says, “what we will be has not yet appeared”. There are changes that “appear” in us as children of God, changes that are being made. We no longer love sin; more and more we love what God loves and hate what God hates. These changes are different for everyone, the pace of the changes is different – it seems to depend on our “vices”, our “issues”. Although we are perpetually being changed, we will not be all we shall be until Christ appears, until He returns. Apparently, our complete conformity to the image of Christ is tied to “seeing Him as He is”.

If our conformity to Christ is tied to “seeing Him as He is”, could we conclude that seeing as much of Him as we can, will conform us as much as possible until He returns? And if that is true, knowing the Word of God, which is Christ, and is about Christ, is crucial for the growth of the children of God.

**Know Him, See Him, Hope in Him**

    1John 3:2

Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
