I was just listening to a message in which the speaker was talking about when he got saved. He said something that really struck me - he said, "when I looked to Jesus, who He is and what He did, how could I look back and pursue my sin - I was not going to look back, but continue to look to Jesus." (paraphrase)
If we keep our eyes on Christ we will have victory over sin. So, as I considered this man's words, I wrote what I know about Jesus. I am sure I will miss much, but this is what I wrote:
- He is the Creator
-He is the Savior
What did it take for Him to save?
1) Left His Heavenly Throne
2) Born of a woman and grew up in this fallen, wicked world
3) Be tempted in every way - including the irreverent temptations from Satan
4) Be mocked
5) Be spit upon
6) Have His beard pulled out
7) A crown of thorns pushed into His head
8) Beaten beyond recognition
9) Hung on a cross to die a slow death
10) Mocked some more
Then the really bad stuff started:
11) Became sin
12) Had the full measure of God's Wrath poured out on Him
**That's what it took for Our King to redeem His people
We have shared some comments on this before. Biblical text can almost sound “fancy” sometimes. (If that makes sense) When we our described the events endured by Jesus in our common language it’s very powerful and very emotional to listen to. Shattering really. I know my mind can’t begin to wrap itself around how truly great Our Savior really is.
Amen to all that was said! He really did add or assume a human nature to His divine nature in His Personhood (Hebrews 2:16-17, 5:7-9). Praise the Lord for the God-Man, the only Theanthropic Person!
