As I prayed, studied, and wrote in my notebook this morning, this came out. As is usually the case, a message that I needed desperately. I am sharing it here in hopes that someone else will be edified by it. Consider a bug in the ditch as you drive down the highway. You do not care what it wants! If you give up all rights to gratify your flesh; if the "interests" of the flesh are NEVER your concern or priority anymore than a bug in the ditch, that would be putting the flesh in its proper place. That is what it means to crucify the old man! The old man is dead and gone. He's not only an insignificant bug in the ditch - he is a dead, insignificant bug in the ditch. To deny self is to deny the desires of the flesh. If you truly consider the desires of the flesh a bug in the ditch you will not let sin reign. WARNING! Do not feed that bug!! You must know that bug has the ability to come back, it has the ability to grow into a raging beast if you give it any quarter. Do not so much as give that bug a crumb that falls from the table - DO NOT FEED IT!! Priority 1 is our walk with the Lord, anything and everything else must be a distant second. Focus on walking right, walking proper, walking by the Spirit - DO NOT GRATIFY THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH! Consider yourself dead to sin and do not let sin reign in your mortal body.
