    Proverbs 3 (Warrior 90)

Today’s Warrior 90 will begin a focus on Proverbs 3.

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,

A logical question would be, “this was written by Solomon, so is it Solomon’s commands and teachings he is talking about, or God’s?”

We can easily land on, “they are the same.”

In 1Kings we see that God told Solomon, “ask what I shall give you?", and Solomon asked for wisdom; therefore, not only is Proverbs inspired, like the rest of Scripture, but any wisdom Solomon had came directly from God.

1Kings 3:9 Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?"

    1Kings 3:12B “Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind…”

Therefore, as we read Proverbs, we are reading the very teachings and commands of God.

    Track 2:

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,

The Bible uses the word “heart” 768 times; therefore, we should consider what the heart is referring to.

The “heart” is a person’s will, conscious, emotions, affections, intentions, and understanding.

We see in Scripture that a heart has sadness, secrets, plans, abundance, thoughts, and purposes.

In Hebrews 4 we can clearly see the connection the Word of God, the Bible, has with the heart of men:

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Our keeping God’s commands are not under obligation or ritual, we keep them because our will, our affections, our intentions are to please God, to seek to do His will.
