The identity of Jesus as recorded by one that has heard, seen, and touched:
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— (1John 1:1)
In the beginning was the Word, (John 1:1a)
What beginning?
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
By the Word of God came ALL of creation; in Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, and 29 we see, “GOD SAID”.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2)
We see in verse 2 “the Word” as a person, using the word “He”, and in verse 3 the word, “Him”:
All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3)
Therefore, if He pre-existed creation, He would be uncreated, and if He is the Creator, He is the Life-Giver and all life is in and through Him, which is confirmed in John 1:4:
In him was life (John 1:4a)
The Creator, the Life-Giver became flesh, dwelt among us for one reason, to illuminate the darkness and redeem His people from the domain of darkness.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, (John 1:14a)
Since the beginning God has separated light from darkness both physically and spiritually.
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. (Genesis 1:3-4)
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:4-5)
This world is under the influence of Satan, there is a clear and present darkness. The Word became flesh, the Life-Giver was revealed in Jesus who illuminated the Truth and the Light in this dark and evil world. It is not that the Light did not prevail, the Way, the Truth, and the Light has illuminated the world that all who would believe would be saved from the domain of darkness. But not all will be saved, not because God is not able, but because men love darkness.
And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. (John 3:19)
The Word calls on all men to change their way of thinking, the Word calls men to see darkness for what it is, to see their need to come to the Light and be cleansed in the Blood of Christ and be saved.
Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)
Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel." (Mark 1:15)
