As I was posting the Read-Write-Like verse on Facebook and Twitter this morning, this verse had an interesting impact on me. It is awesome how verses do that - you may have read a verse many times, and as I read it 3 or 4 times again this morning this is what hit me:
The disciples would have been devout Jews - they would have a good understanding of the Scripture. Even though they had at the least a basic understanding of Scripture, they apparently didn't have a "belief" in the Scripture. You could say, when Jesus was raised from the dead they "re-thought" the Scripture, their "minds were changed" regarding the Scriptures; but it wasn't just a mere mind change, it was a mind changed in such a dramatic way that they were never the same again, their lives were forever altered, the direction of their life was changed dramatically - in other words, they "repented" of their casual understanding of Scripture and entered total, unwavering belief in the Scripture - specifically concerning the Messiah, their Savior!
John 2:22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.
