Just thinking about today's READ-WRITE-LIKE verse, which is:
Romans 9:33 as it is written, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."
Couple quick thoughts...not earth shattering revelation by any means, but HEAVY stuff to consider.
Whenever the Scripture says, "as it is written", it is referring back to the Old Testament.
All Scripture is VERY important, but when Scripture references Scripture, you know it is of huge importance
God tells us in His Word, He has laid a stone in Zion
We know that this "Stone" in Jesus Christ
This "Stone", the "Rock", is going to cause some to stumble
This "Stone", the "Rock" is going to offend
All religions and philosophers stumble over the deity of Jesus and His atoning sacrifice
People often stumble over things in the dark because they can't see- those that stumble over Jesus, the "stone of stumbling", do so because they have not been given eyes to see, they are still blind to the Truth
The world is offended by the exclusiveness of Jesus, meaning, they are OK if you say that Jesus is "A" way to Heaven, but they are offended when you say, "Jesus is the "ONLY" Way to Heaven
The bumper stickers that say "COEXIST" are a lie, Jesus is the only Way, this exclusivity is why He is the "rock of offense"
But not all "stumble", not all are "offended", some believe, and those who believe, those you trust in Christ, those whose faith is in the only One that can save, will not be put to shame
